The number printed on the card

A Hafilat card is the contactless card used on Abu Dhabi public buses. The number you need is printed on the card itself.

  • Ten digits

The number has 10 digits. On the card they are grouped as four, then four, then two.

  • Number shape

While you read it, the groups look like 0000 0000 00. That is the shape, not a sample balance.

  • On the bus

Credit sits on the card. You tap the card when you board an Abu Dhabi public bus.

  • Whose card

Your own card, or a card you are topping up for someone in Abu Dhabi.

What to have ready for a Hafilat recharge

Three things are enough. You say them on the call, or you bring them to the desk.

  1. The 10-digit number printed on the card.
  2. The amount in AED you want added.
  3. A phone number or email so the desk can reach you if the line drops.

How a Hafilat recharge is arranged

  1. 1

    Reach the desk

Call or come to Al Bateen during open hours.

  2. 2

Give the number and the amount

The desk reads the 10 digits back. You say the amount you want on the card.

  3. 3

    Hear the total

Any fee is included in the total you hear before you pay. You can stop there at no charge.

  4. 4

    Pay, then ride

You pay by card once the total is clear. After that, the credit is processed onto the bus card.

Hours at the Al Bateen desk
